The Eau Claire Cavaliers started out slow Monday Night July 12 on WYSP Night versus East Side Merchants but finished strong for a 10-0 victory before 450 fans. Cale Tassi limited the Merchants to one hit over six innings and was aided by a 4th inning spark that produce one run and two in the fifth, one in the sixth and six in the 7th to end the game.
Brady Sand was the leading hitter for the Cavaliers with two hits and two RBI’s and Tony Kelly also added two hits and an RBI.
Thursday July 15 Tony Kelly led the Cavaliers with a double and a home run to spark the Cavaliers to a 6-4 victory over the Rochester Royals on Epilepsy Foundation Night before 490 fans. Kelly, an Aruba native, and was a red shirt Freshman at Western Oklahoma State, who advanced to the Division II Junior World Series drove in three runs batting sixth in manager Mark McHorney’s lineup.
Brady Sand threw 7 complete innings striking out five. Rochester made it a game by scoring three runs in the top of the ninth before Jamie Soyk put out the fire.
Saturday July 17 Tyler Dierke and T.J. Wink dominated the Oshkosh Giants in a doubleheader. The Cavaliers won game one 6-1 and the second game 7-0. In the first game, Dierke who was backed by a pair of two run home runs by Ty Fadness and Ben Sebesta to earn the win. Wink took the win in game two with a shutout of the Giants. Eau Claire improved their record to 22-11 and 13-8 in the WSL.
Sunday the Cavaliers split with the Giants winning game one 1-0 and dropping the nightcap 4-3. Down 4-1 in the seventh inning the Cavaliers rallied to score two runs to pull within one run. The Cavaliers were not able to overcome the deficit.
The Cavaliers sit at 23-12 on the season and are 14-9 in the WSL, Eau Claire returns home on Wednesday, July 21 to host Chaseburg/Coon Valley at 7:30 at Carson Park.
Thursday July 22 the Cavaliers face the Exeland Braves game starting at 7:30.
Friday the Cavaliers entertain the St. Paul Red Rooster game time at 7:30.
Saturday the Cavaliers face the Manitowoc Bandits in a WSL Doubleheader starting at 5:00. Sunday the Cavaliers continue their WSL weekend facing the Bandits in a 10:00 Doubleheader.

The Cavaliers will celebrate their 40th Season on July 30th and July 31st with a Reunion Weekend. The Cavaliers play a single game with the Sparta Millers on Friday July 30th at 7:30 PM and a single game with Hastings, MN Saturday July 31st at 1:00PM. The Cavaliers will have a Reunion Banquet at the Plaza Hotel and Suites with cocktails at 6:00 and dinner at 7:00 with a program to follow and please welcome back our former players, former managers, coaches, board members, batboys and batgirls.
