The Eau Claire Cavaliers traveled to Lake City, MN June 2nd and came away with a 14-6 victory. Brad Archambeau led the way with a 3 for 6 performance with 2 doubles and a triple scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Troy Pieffer recorded the win with relief help from Mark Shaver and Chevy Tollefson.
On June 3rd the Cavaliers traveled to Hasting MN and Matt Miller went a perfect 5-5, scored two runs and drove in a pair to lead the Eau Claire Cavaliers past the Hastings Hawks 9-4 in a non league game Wednesday Night.
Brady Sand struck out five and allowed seven hits in eight innings to earn the win for the Cavs. Ben Sebesta homered for Eau Claire. He drove on two runs on the night.
On Saturday June 6th the Cavaliers traveled to Lombard Illinois for Wisconsin State League doubleheader and swept the first place and defending champion Orioles on scores of 7-1 and 8-5. Mark Shaver pitched a complete game victory in game 1 allowing 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 4. In the second game the Cavaliers overcame a 5 run deficit to earn an 8-5 victory. Troy Pieffer was credited the win with relief help from Tyler Martin and Chevy Tollefson earned the save.
The Eau Claire Cavaliers capped a strong weekend with a 3-2 10-inning victory over the Lombard Orioles in Wisconsin State League action Sunday afternoon in Lombard Illinois.
The Cavaliers (8-8,4-4) dropped the first game of the doubleheader. 3-1, but left town by taking three of four from the Orioles.
In the nightcap, Eau Claire scored in the top of the 10th off Lombard’s Joe Budin, who allowed one hit and walked three in his only inning of action. Phil Issaksson and Yoshinori Machida each pitched 5 innings, allowing a combined six hits in the victory for the Cavs.
Chevy Tollefson was the hard-luck loser in the opener for Eau Claire, which backed its starter with one run on eight hits.
The Cavaliers have a home game Tuesday June 9th against the St. Paul Commanding Edge and travel to Marshfield June 10th and then have a Wisconsin State League 4 game series at Sheboygan June 13th and 14th with doubleheaders both days.
